Overview

If you already hold the ITIL® 4 Foundation certificate, the ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation Bridge is the fastest route to bringing your qualification up to date.

ITIL version 5 was released globally in 2026 and represents a meaningful evolution of the framework. This one-day course is designed specifically for ITIL 4 Foundation holders who want a clear, structured account of what has changed and why, delivered efficiently so you can get back to work with an updated qualification and a current understanding of the framework.

The course focuses entirely on what is new – it is not a recap of ITIL 4 content you already know.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the key differences between ITIL 4 and ITIL version 5 and why the framework has evolved
  • Describe the updates to the ITIL Value System and how they reflect modern digital service environments
  • Explain the revised Product and Service Lifecycle model and how it differs from the ITIL 4 service value chain
  • Recognise changes to the ITIL management practices and understand their updated purpose and scope
  • Describe the expanded role of AI, automation, sustainability, and complexity-ready thinking in ITIL v5
  • Apply updated ITIL v5 concepts and principles in the context of existing ITIL 4 knowledge
  • Prepare for and sit the ITIL (Version 5) Foundation Bridge examination

This course is designed for:

  • ITIL® 4 Foundation certificate holders who want to update their qualification to version 5
  • Service management professionals whose organisations are adopting or evaluating ITIL v5
  • Practitioners who need to understand what has changed to advise their teams or stakeholders
  • Anyone whose ITIL 4 Foundation forms part of a qualification pathway they wish to continue under v5

Delegates must hold a current ITIL® 4 Foundation certificate. This is a mandatory prerequisite – the course assumes existing ITIL 4 Foundation knowledge and does not cover that content.

If you do not hold an ITIL 4 Foundation certificate, the ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation course is the appropriate starting point.

Once upon a time, in a bustling city where glass skyscrapers kissed the sky and the hum of technology filled the air, there was a small park. This park was an oasis of greenery amidst the urban sprawl, home to a majestic oak tree that stood tall and proud. This oak had witnessed the city grow and evolve over many decades, and it had become a symbol of strength, wisdom, and resilience for the locals.

Across the street from this park, a group of visionary entrepreneurs was in the process of establishing a new consultancy firm. They wanted a name that would not only represent their commitment to providing insightful and robust solutions but also reflect their deep roots in the community and their dedication to helping businesses grow and flourish.

One crisp autumn morning, as the founders met to brainstorm names, a ray of sunlight broke through the clouds and illuminated the old oak tree in the park. Its leaves shimmered with a golden glow, casting a warm, inviting light. Inspired by this radiant sight, one of the founders suggested the name “BrightOak.” The name embodied the brilliance of innovative ideas and the steadfast strength of the mighty oak, a perfect metaphor for their consultancy.

And so, BrightOak Consultancy was born, with a mission to illuminate the path to success for businesses of all sizes, drawing on their wisdom and experience to help clients thrive in an ever-changing world. The majestic oak continues to stand as a reminder of their origins and their commitment to excellence.
