Overview

The ITIL® 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve (DPI) is a unique module – it is shared between both the Managing Professional and Strategic Leader designation pathways. This means it is mandatory for both, and completing it contributes credits toward either designation.

Delivered over three days, the course focuses on the practical skills needed to create a learning and improving IT organisation. It covers how to apply direction-setting, planning, measurement, and continual improvement techniques across the full range of service management activities.

DPI equips IT leaders and practitioners with the tools to drive meaningful organisational improvement, align IT with business strategy, and embed a culture of continual improvement at every level.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the key concepts of direction, planning, and improvement in IT organisations
  • Apply the ITIL Continual Improvement Model to service management activities
  • Define and cascade vision, mission, and objectives through an organisation
  • Use measurement and reporting to support decision-making and improvement
  • Apply risk management concepts within a service management context
  • Understand Lean, Agile, and other improvement approaches and how they complement ITIL
  • Create effective communication plans and manage organisational change
  • Prepare for the ITIL® 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve examination

This course is ideal for:

  • IT managers and leaders at all levels seeking the Managing Professional or Strategic Leader designation

The following prerequisite is required:

  • ITIL® 4 Foundation certification

This course prepares you for the ITIL® 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve examination, administered by PeopleCert.

  • Format: 40 multiple-choice questions
  • Duration: 90 minutes (113 minutes for non-native language candidates)
  • Pass mark: 70% (28 out of 40)
  • Open book: No
  • Exam delivery: Online proctored or paper-based at an authorised test centre
