MoP® (Management of Portfolios) Foundation introduces the MoP framework – the globally recognised best practice approach to portfolio management. Portfolio management sits at the strategic level above programmes and projects: where MSP coordinates related projects into programmes, MoP provides the governance and practices to manage an organisation’s entire investment in change – ensuring the right mix of projects and programmes is approved, prioritised, and resourced to deliver strategic objectives.
The Foundation course covers the core MoP principles, practices, and portfolio definition and delivery cycles. It provides the knowledge needed to work within or support a portfolio management environment and is the prerequisite for the MoP Practitioner qualification.
This course is particularly relevant for C-suite and senior leadership, portfolio office professionals, and anyone responsible for investment decision-making across a portfolio of change.
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
– Explain the purpose and principles of MoP and how it differs from programme and project management
– Describe the MoP practices and how they support effective portfolio management
– Explain the portfolio definition and portfolio delivery cycles
– Describe the roles and responsibilities within a portfolio management structure
– Explain how MoP supports strategic alignment and investment decision-making
– Demonstrate sufficient knowledge to sit and pass the MoP Foundation examination
