Overview

Scrum Master Workshop is a practical two-day workshop for people who are, or are about to become, Scrum Masters. It focuses on doing the role well, rather than on passing an exam.

Delegates work through the Scrum Master’s day-to-day responsibilities: facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Reviews and Retrospectives that are worth attending; coaching the team and the Product Owner; spotting and removing impediments; and helping the wider organisation understand and support Scrum.

The workshop is built around a running team scenario, with plenty of practice, so delegates leave with techniques and facilitation formats they can use straight away with their own teams.

By the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
– Explain the Scrum Master’s accountabilities to the team, the Product Owner and the organisation
– Facilitate effective Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives
– Use coaching and facilitation techniques to build a self-managing team
– Identify, prioritise and remove impediments
– Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement and stakeholder engagement
– Use simple metrics (velocity, burn-down, flow) to help the team improve, not to judge it

This workshop is designed for:
– New and aspiring Scrum Masters
– Team leads and project managers moving into a Scrum Master role
– Product Owners and delivery managers who work closely with Scrum Masters
– Agile teams that want to strengthen how they run Scrum

A basic understanding of Agile and Scrum is recommended, for example from the Introduction to Agile & Scrum course or the EXIN Agile Scrum Foundation.

There is no examination. Delegates receive a BrightOak Certificate of Attendance on completion.

Delegates who want a formal certification may wish to consider the EXIN Agile Scrum Master.

Provided as part of the workshop:
– Delegate workbook and facilitation toolkit
– Workshop slides (digital)
– BrightOak Certificate of Attendance

– EXIN Agile Scrum Master – for a formal Scrum Master certification
– EXIN Agile Coach – for those moving into a wider coaching role
– EXIN Agile Scrum Product Owner – for the Product Owners you work with

Once upon a time, in a bustling city where glass skyscrapers kissed the sky and the hum of technology filled the air, there was a small park. This park was an oasis of greenery amidst the urban sprawl, home to a majestic oak tree that stood tall and proud. This oak had witnessed the city grow and evolve over many decades, and it had become a symbol of strength, wisdom, and resilience for the locals.

Across the street from this park, a group of visionary entrepreneurs was in the process of establishing a new consultancy firm. They wanted a name that would not only represent their commitment to providing insightful and robust solutions but also reflect their deep roots in the community and their dedication to helping businesses grow and flourish.

One crisp autumn morning, as the founders met to brainstorm names, a ray of sunlight broke through the clouds and illuminated the old oak tree in the park. Its leaves shimmered with a golden glow, casting a warm, inviting light. Inspired by this radiant sight, one of the founders suggested the name “BrightOak.” The name embodied the brilliance of innovative ideas and the steadfast strength of the mighty oak, a perfect metaphor for their consultancy.

And so, BrightOak Consultancy was born, with a mission to illuminate the path to success for businesses of all sizes, drawing on their wisdom and experience to help clients thrive in an ever-changing world. The majestic oak continues to stand as a reminder of their origins and their commitment to excellence.
