Overview

The MSP® Practitioner course builds on the Foundation level to develop the ability to apply the MSP framework in real programme environments. Where the Foundation course establishes what MSP is and how it works, the Practitioner course focuses on how to use it effectively – tailoring the governance themes, managing programme complexity, and applying MSP practices to realistic programme scenarios.

The course prepares delegates for the MSP Practitioner examination, which tests applied knowledge through scenario-based questions. Successful completion demonstrates the capability to work as a programme manager or senior programme professional within an MSP environment.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Apply MSP principles and governance themes in the context of a real programme scenario
  • Tailor MSP to address the specific needs and context of different programme environments
  • Manage benefits realisation across the programme lifecycle
  • Apply MSP approaches to risk, stakeholder engagement, quality, and information management
  • Establish and maintain programme governance structures and accountability
  • Demonstrate sufficient applied knowledge to sit and pass the MSP Practitioner examination

This course is designed for:

  • Programme managers and aspiring programme managers
  • Senior project managers who manage multiple related projects
  • PMO professionals with programme management responsibilities
  • Senior Responsible Owners and programme sponsors
  • Business change managers responsible for realising programme benefits

Delegates must hold the MSP Foundation certificate. This is a mandatory prerequisite.

Once upon a time, in a bustling city where glass skyscrapers kissed the sky and the hum of technology filled the air, there was a small park. This park was an oasis of greenery amidst the urban sprawl, home to a majestic oak tree that stood tall and proud. This oak had witnessed the city grow and evolve over many decades, and it had become a symbol of strength, wisdom, and resilience for the locals.

Across the street from this park, a group of visionary entrepreneurs was in the process of establishing a new consultancy firm. They wanted a name that would not only represent their commitment to providing insightful and robust solutions but also reflect their deep roots in the community and their dedication to helping businesses grow and flourish.

One crisp autumn morning, as the founders met to brainstorm names, a ray of sunlight broke through the clouds and illuminated the old oak tree in the park. Its leaves shimmered with a golden glow, casting a warm, inviting light. Inspired by this radiant sight, one of the founders suggested the name “BrightOak.” The name embodied the brilliance of innovative ideas and the steadfast strength of the mighty oak, a perfect metaphor for their consultancy.

And so, BrightOak Consultancy was born, with a mission to illuminate the path to success for businesses of all sizes, drawing on their wisdom and experience to help clients thrive in an ever-changing world. The majestic oak continues to stand as a reminder of their origins and their commitment to excellence.
