ITIL® Product (Version 5) focuses on the end-to-end management of digital products, from strategic discovery and direction-setting through design, build, transition and into reliable, observable operation. It is aimed at professionals moving into or already working in product-facing roles such as Product Manager, Digital Product Manager, Product Owner, Enterprise Architect, Solutions Architect and IT Operations Manager.
The module covers nine competency areas: digital product and service integration, value stream integration and flow optimisation, strategic discovery and product direction, human-centred product design, resource and supplier orchestration, build and quality engineering integration, controlled transition and deployment, reliable and observable operations, and AI-enabled ways of working.
It is examined via a 40-question, 90-minute, open-book PeopleCert exam with a 70% pass mark.
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
– Integrate digital products and services across the value stream and optimise flow
– Apply strategic discovery techniques to define product direction
– Use human-centred design principles when shaping products
– Orchestrate resources and suppliers effectively across the product lifecycle
– Integrate build and quality engineering practices into product delivery
– Manage controlled transition and deployment of new or changed products
– Operate products reliably with strong observability
– Apply AI-enabled ways of working across the product lifecycle
– Make evidence-based decisions using metrics, feedback loops and lifecycle performance data

Any ITIL 4 certification, or ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation, or ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation Bridge, is required before sitting the exam. Training must be completed through an Accredited Training Organization (such as BrightOak) or official PeopleCert eLearning – exam results are withheld without proof of completion.
